This Masterclass Is Presented By

From reading about archaeology in comics to becoming an archaeologist, life often feels surreal for Nithya Eswaran. With a background spanning history, governance, political science and archaeology, she is deeply passionate about how sustainable recovery of economies post-covid can serve as a cornerstone for rebuilding nations. Her work challenges the often unsustainable recovery strategies for heritage sites, advocating instead for inclusive and lasting solutions that preserve cultural identity while promoting economic resilience. Currently, pursuing her PhD at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (South Africa) her research maps data on the Later Farming Communities across a few countries in Africa between 800AD and 1500AD. Through this work, she aims to shed light on the enduring significance of this period for the contemporary society. Blending rigorous academic inquiry with compelling storytelling, she is dedicated to making complex historical and archaeological insights accessible and engaging to broader audiences, inspiring the next generation to see heritage as a living, evolving force for change
