Kasha Sequoia Slavner is a Gen-Z filmmaker, photographer, and a passionate advocate for climate justice and peace. At 15, she founded a positive impact media organization called The Global Sunrise Project. Her first feature documentary, The Sunrise Storyteller, screened at 60 film festivals and won 30 awards. She uses her storytelling platform to conduct educational outreach, screenings, exhibitions and workshops that empower youth with the skills to become civically engaged by using their unique talents and skills to make a positive impact in their local or global communities. Kasha is a Diana Award and Kim Phuc Youth Peace Award recipient, one of the Voices of SDG16+, and a 2021 Global Youth Climate Network Ambassador. She's also an active alumnus of Global Changemakers, Yunus & Youth, We Are Family Foundation, and One Better World Collective. Her next documentary currently in development is 1.5 Degrees of Peace, which will explore how climate action and peace are more interconnected than we may think. Across the world, youth are activating the power of generations to demonstrate that a bold peace movement can make climate justice achievable and climate justice now will help us create peace for future generations
