Welcome to this Masterclass on Navigating Taboos with Faye Simanjuntak. When Faye was 9 years old she first learned about human trafficking at school, the rest is history as she started her changemaker journey with her project Rumah Faye. Rumah faye is a non-profit begun in 2013 working to eradicate child sexual abuse, trafficking, and exploitation. In 2016, The project opened the doors to its safe house, which works directly with victims of child sexual abuse, trafficking, and exploitation. As of March 31st 2020, they’ve rehabilitated 90 girls and 5 babies. Her work through Rumah Faye has been recognised by multiple media outlets, and landed her in Forbes Indonesia’s 30 under 30 in the class of 2020, as well as The Straits Times’ list of Asians to Watch. This Masterclass Is Presented By

Faye Simanjuntak was born and raised in Indonesia. She will be attending Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service in Fall 2020. As Founder of Rumah Faye, Faye is responsible for drafting proposals for prevention programs and legal advocacy for/against policies affecting vulnerable groups, overseeing safe house operations in Batam, Kepulauan Riau for survivors, and writing and delivering speeches.
